Identification of excavated potteries and bronzes

The laboratory carries out tests on excavated pottery and bronzes, archaeological or not, through the analysis and the study of surface changes. The crystalline encrustations present on the surface of ceramic objects and the corrosion layers visible on bronzes, can be tested by chemical analyses (FT-IR infrared spectroscopy), physical analyses (ultraviolet induced fluorescence) and microscopic analyses in order to verify that the object has characteristics compatible with authentic items.
